Mark Almond

"Tainted Love"の大ヒットで知られるソフト・セル活動期より、マーク＆マンバスを率いたり、ソロとしても活動。

「暗黒の王子」の異名で知られるように、演劇的な歌唱とジャンルを問わない幅広い音楽性により、根強い人気を現在まで保っている。デュエットに特異な才能と斬新な解釈を示し、ブロンスキ・ビートとのドナ・サマーのカバー「アイ・フィール・ラヴ」(85年）、ジーン・ピットニーとの再演「心はいつも君のもの」(88年）はそれぞれ全英３位、１位と大ヒットを記録している。

およそ作品に駄作のない人だが、80年代では85年の「ジョニーの物語」や88年の「ザ・スターズ・ウィー・アー」あたりの人気が高い。
